Wildwoods

The project site is situated in a stunning mountain range near Pune, offering breath-taking views of rolling hills and valleys. The site itself is shaped like a horseshoe and has a steep slope. The first phase of development for the site involves building weekend farmhouse cottages on a portion of the land.

To ensure the feasibility of the project and to determine the best road layout for the half and one acre plots, various studies were conducted. One plot was selected to construct a sample cottage as a prototype.

The design of the sample cottage was intended to be flexible and able to expand from one bedroom to three or more, depending on the needs and site conditions. In this particular plot, two bedrooms were located on the upper level, with a courtyard in between that offered valley views and outdoor recreational space. A third bedroom was tucked beneath the main structure and was made possible by the slope of the land with minimal site excavation. The lower base of the cottage was constructed using reinforced concrete and stone masonry, while the upper part was supported by a steel and brick structure with sloping roofs and clerestory windows that allowed natural light to enter. The master bedroom featured a private splash pool and outdoor shower as a unique feature. The central courtyard included a cantilevered deck and open dining area that could be used as an extended space for parties and family gatherings, with all the spaces seamlessly flowing into each other.

Overall, the goal was to provide all the amenities that one would desire in a resort or weekend retreat, providing a chance to escape from the monotony of daily life and relax.
