A&S New Office

Designing one’s own office for a second time in a new location poses different challenges. Here the space we had bought is a simple rectangular floor space with a large window towards the west as the main source of light and ventilation and a toilet in one corner. Since this is the top most floor,
Our design response was to utilise the height available and create four timber vaulted ceilings and uplighting them to enhance the height of the space thereby bringing in a feeling of spaciousness. The principal architects’ cabin is placed in the south west corner of the space with a large table that can also double up as a conference/ discussion space. A small pantry discreetly tucked behind a finned door as an extension to the toilet space also aligned with the main cabin outer line forming a interesting composition of solid, void and texture. The staff area, the waiting nook and small reception table were all arranged in the remaining outer space as a flowing space. The partition unit between the main cabin and the studio space had a glass envelope around it and served two purposes - first as a storage unit for files, material samples, and secondly to bring in a large amount of shared light into the studio from the west through the cabin.
The material palette is simple and minimal. - grey concrete finish tile, oak wood veneer and black along with light grey walls as a natural backdrop. This we believe creates a homogenous visual and tactile experience.
